When Matt Mullenweg was 19 years old he was a self-proclaimed bad student and spent most of his time blogging. Frustrated with how inflexible and difficult existing tools were, he crafted a short post stating that he wanted to work on a better platform for blogging. One of the commenters on that post was Mike Little, who offered Matt some help to work on the WordPress project. Over the last 8 years WordPress has become the most popular open source blogging platform. It’s used by major publications such as TechCrunch, Mashable, ReadWriteWeb and millions around the world.
